Economic Development

IEA member companies have a stake in the Indiana economy and future growth and job creation.  As corporate citizens of Indiana’s communities, our member companies provide various programs to help foster and promote business development and job growth.  Here are examples of a few of those programs.

Indiana Michigan Power (AEP)
AEP offers business development services that help businesses find the right site, building and community.  Their comprehensive location advisory services can help your business increase profitability, lower operating costs, and maximize supply chain efficiencies.

Citizens Energy Group
Citizens is committed to bringing growth to its base in Indianapolis, and is an active partner and supporter in a business and government coalition called FOCUS, that supports the delivery of economic development projects in Indiana.  In addition, Citizens maintains a $1 million loan portfolio that is supporting neighborhood revitalization and economic development projects in the urban core.

Duke Energy
For more than 100 years, Duke Energy has helped businesses thrive in the regions we serve - making our team a preferred choice in site selection services. Duke’s nationally recognized site selection specialists provide the latest industry and site-specific information to help you grow your business, and offers building and site searches, proposal preparation, custom GIS maps, and more.

Indianapolis Power and Light
Indianapolis Power and Light corporate and employee donations to community organizations total more than $2 million annually. Through partnerships, sponsorships and grants, funds are provided to non-profit organizations in the areas of arts and culture, community enhancement, economic development, education and environment. 

Northern Indiana Public Service Company
Northern Indiana Public Service Company partners with state, regional and local economic development organizations as well as community leaders and real estate companies to offer new and growing businesses attractive opportunities for investing in their future in northern Indiana.

Vectren
Vectren's Economic Development staff works hand-in-hand with companies to meet their energy needs and can serve as a single point of contact within Vectren during the site selection process.  Services include electric and natural gas distribution cost estimates, comprehensive site and building reports, economic impact analysis studies and more.

IEA is an association of utilities serving Hoosier consumers with reliable, affordable electricity and natural gas, heating, cooling and powering homes and businesses across Indiana. Our mission is to advocate policies and promote the general welfare of the energy industry to improve the economy and quality of life in Indiana.
